Project Startup

Sebastian Bergmann | The Online PHP Conference |

How do you start a new project? Which tools do you use in your development process? How do you set up and configure them for a new project? These are questions that I am commonly asked at conferences, meetups, and while working with our clients' teams. And as the creator and maintainer of dozens of Open Source projects I have experience in setting up new projects.

In this workshop, we start with an empty directory. Step by step, we will bootstrap a new project: setting up tooling, creating tests, implementing functionality. Because the use of a tool is not an end in itself, we will discuss the problem a tool wants to solve, how it wants to solve it, and how to embed it into your development process.
